PINaR ERIS

Its cutesy, and a tad edgy but she sure knows how to sell her garments in a photo shoot. Hanging on the rack i don't think most of her garments would catch my attention... but styled together makes for an edgy look. Pinar Eris has a few of her items selling at a moderate price on Etsy. She has been featured in Auxiliary Magazine, Tartan Magazine, and Glam Magazine.

Tilda Swinton for AnOther Magazine

Im not really big on Tilda Swinton but I can respect how she can wear couture stuff right off the runway, regardless of how impractical it is. In this editorial shoot for AnOther Magazine in spring /summer 2009 she wears a slew of designers including Mark Fast, Craig Lawrence, and Louise Goldin just to name a few.

Éva Nyíri

Eva Nyiri is a Hungarian designer with quite a spin in fashion. Her designs are edgy evoking a tough girl air to each look She graduated from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. This collection is called "Black on Black" and is said to be inspired by transformer-like robots and samurais. Eva Nyiri is a fairly new designer and I look forward to seeing more of her collections.

Number (N)ine

I came across this really awesome photo spread of Number (N)ine for Huge Magazine and i couldn't help to re-blog about it. Number (N)ine is a Japanese menswear brand. Not everything is as dark as these images portray but there is a definite musical influence in his lines. Don't bother looking for their latest collection Number (N)ine's last collection was in 2009 named "A closed feeling'

Julius

Julius is a dark avant-garde Japanese brand. Julius originally started in 2001but the first collection didn't show until 2005. His Fall/Winter 2010 collection was named [goth_ik;] and it describes the essence of the brand. These are images from his newest collection. I really like the energy this collection shows and although its menswear Id like to wear a few things in there myself.

J. Smith Esquire

I never wanted anything to do with the royal wedding but coming home late last Thursday I turned on the TV to see what the fuss was about. I immediately recognized all the Philip Treacy hats (which by the way it woulda sucked to sit behind one of those really big ones). Seeing as this might spark a trend in America I decided to blog about one of my favorite hat makers, J. Smith Esquire. His hats are edgy and inspirational. He has been featured in many magazines including Vanity Fair, Italian, French, Japanese, German, and English Vogue, W magazine, and Los Angeles Times just to name a few. His newest collection is Illuminated check it out.

Vecona

Vecona makes custom clothes and jewelery. Her style can be described as pirate-y, vintage, and most definitely dark. Her corsets are impeccable and truly flatter the body. Vecona had been featured in Vogue, Elegy, Gothic Lifestyle, and Gothic Beauty just to name a few. Vecona has so many good pictures it was hard to choose just a few...

Eirik Aswang

Eirik Aswang is an LA/ San Francisco based designer who's work can be described as couture fetish fashion. His background is in sculpting and painting and it usually shows through in his designs as the clothes look as if they were molded into the model's body. His work can be seen in movies, TV shows such as Dexter, and worn by rock stars. He has more work in his resume but refuses to say where until summer 2011, guess we gotta stay tuned......

Brian Lichtenberg

After much searching and persistence it all paid off because I finally got an internship. Living in LA has many advantages and having the best designers a short drive away is one of them. I will be working closely with Brian Lichtenberg to gain valuable industry experience. For those of you that don't know about Brian Lichtenberg here are some of the highlights of his career.

Bibian Blue

I had come across Bibian Blue recently from a magazine and i instantly fell in love with her attention to detail. Her style is very dark and glamorous without looking too much like a costume. Some of her work has been shown in covers of magazines and you cant help but to stop and pick it up. Here are a few pictures of her work.

LACMA

LACMA had a temporary collection featuring clothing from periodic times. These are some of the pieces I photographed when I went. The collection was a pretty extensive one featuring women's, men's, and some children's pieces. I have to commend them on their beautifully crafted pieces without the aid of modern technology.

1890's piece. The shape of this dress is very typical with the "S" curve and mono bosom.
Judging by the flat front and exaggerated backside I believe this dress is from the 1870's.
1780's or 1790's dress
Crinolines were used to give shape to the dresses without adding weight. These were probably used in the 1880's as bustles and very detailed backsides were the fashion then.
